Exciting News! – Announcing Fitzgerald PT “Athletes for Life” program

To better serve the athletic community within the North Shore area, Fitzgerald PT is excited to announce the launch of their new “Athletes for Life” program.

This was created in order to help set all athletes up to be mobile and active throughout their lives -with minimal injury. This program is important to help student athletes achieve the best success of being a healthy and injury-free adult and build habits now can help them be able to be active in the future.

Fitzgerald PT’s “Athletes for Life” program will focus on the 4 P’s:

1. Prevention

  • The Athletic Preparedness Examination* is a one-on-one multidimensional assessment used to screen for imbalances that could lead to injury, as well as determine an individual’s ability to return to sport after rehabilitation.
  • This consists of 10 components such as the Functional Movement Assessment™, the Y Balance Test™, and several dynamic stability tests comparing strength and power between limbs.
  • Identify regions of impairment, such as hip weakness or ankle stiffness that may benefit from corrective measures to facilitate a smooth transition to sport performance and reduce the risk of injury long-term.

2. Physical therapy

  • Provide the utmost in evidence-based, orthopedic physical therapy services.
  • Our PT’s will work with you to develop an effective, evidence-based treatment plan tailored to meet your individual needs.

3. Performance

  • In collaboration with local specialists, our Doctors of Physical Therapy will bridge the gap between rehabilitation and athletic performance.
  • We recognize that simply because formal physical therapy is winding down, the athlete is not necessarily prepared to return to competition.
  • We will help guide the process of facilitating nutritional coaching, strength and conditioning, and cognitive therapies to ensure long term athletic development.

4. Preservation

  • From co-ed soccer leagues to pick-up basketball, we understand that being competitive and wanting to perform well does not have an age limit.
  • Proper exercise instruction, education on joint preservation techniques as well as a tailored maintenance plan for your body is the goal.

Fitzgerald’s Doctors of Physical Therapy specialize in sports medicine, injury prevention and post-operative management, facilitating the athlete’s return to the highest level of performance.

“We are excited to be launching this program and adding it to our roster of PT offerings. In creating ‘athletes for life,’ we believe that we are helping those who love an active lifestyle, are able to continue enjoying it no matter what physical injuries they may face – on and off the field” says Holly Fitzgerald, owner, and President of Fitzgerald Physical Therapy Associates.

Fitzgerald started her business over 20 years ago seeking to help the community get relief from their physical pain. The Fitzgerald Physical Therapy clinics can be found in in Melrose, Woburn and most recently, Wilmington, MA.
