Q. What inspired you to pursue a career in physical therapy?
As an athlete growing up, I found myself constantly injured. I had to go to physical therapy repeatedly for my knees. That is where I first learned about the profession.
Q. Can you share the moment you knew you wanted to be a physical therapist?
With many episodes of going to PT as an athlete, I of course had good and bad experiences, as well as excellent, and not so great providers. I initially wanted to become a PT in high school, however after a bad experience as a patient, I put that dream on the back burner.
Playing baseball in college, I was injured in some way every season and following knee surgery and having a wonderful experience with a PT, it re-invigorated my belief that I wanted to be a practicing clinician.
Q. What was the most challenging part of your journey to becoming a PT?
The year between undergrad at Assumption University, taking classes online at MGH, while working 2 jobs was the most challenging and stressful part, once I got into school, it was a blast.
Q. Did you have any mentors or experiences that shaped your career path?
Yes! Holly Fitzgerald and Brit Smith (Keep it Moving PT) were my first full time clinical instructors and mentors who helped cultivate my passion for Orthopedics in the outpatient setting.
Q. What advice would you give to someone considering a career in physical therapy?
Experience as many clinical settings as you can, you never know which setting is right for you.
Q. How did you first hear about Fitzgerald Physical Therapy?
I was flipping through a binder at Simmons University looking for a clinical rotation, and a classmate had been there before and said Holly was great!
Q. What sets Fitzgerald PT apart from other places you’ve worked or trained?
We really are a family here. Everyone has input in the organization, and we truly care about each other. There is no corporate owner pounding the desk for us to see more patients, we are all in the boat rowing in the same direction.
Q. What’s your favorite part of working at Fitzgerald PT?
My coworkers and patients!

Q. How does the team at Fitzgerald PT help foster growth and collaboration?
Biweekly rounds, our amazing mentor program, our monthly meetings, and our desire and push for continuing education to be the best possible practitioners.
Q. How has being a PT changed you personally or professionally?
Personally, PT has made me develop patience
Q. What keeps you motivated and passionate about physical therapy?
Always learning new techniques, best practices, and helping others achieve their goals
Q. How do you stay up to date with the latest practices and innovations in physical therapy?
Reading the newest journal articles, taking continuing education courses, and learning from our students!
Q. What do you like to do outside of work to recharge and stay balanced?
I like going on adventures and runs with my two dogs Boba and Sunny, training for races, going to Mike Boyles Strength and Conditioning, golfing, and spending time with my fiancé Nyssa.
